How will the symposium take place?

This year, we will be holding the symposium completely online, with the sessions streamed on a virtual meeting platform. You will be able to register for as many or as few sessions as you like.

Does this program offer CME?

Yes. This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the Illinois State Medical Society and ISMIE Mutual Insurance Company. The Illinois State Medical Society is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

The Illinois State Medical Society designates this live activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  • Summarize potential medical professional liability and patient safety risks related to the ongoing changes in healthcare
  • Describe how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the healthcare industry and the delivery of care, and the lessons that can be drawn from these changes
  • Identify practical risk mitigation strategies to navigate the evolving trends in medicine

There are no relevant financial relationships with ACCME-defined commercial interests for anyone who was in control of the content of this activity.

Does this program offer a Risk Rewards premium discount?

Yes, eligible ISMIE or SEMPIC policyholders may earn a 1% premium discount for each day they attend.

Can I register for a single session?

Yes, you can register for any session that is of interest to you, and there is no obligation to attend all six.

Can I share my registration?

No, registrations are unique to the individual participant and cannot be shared.

If I paid to register, can I get a refund if I have to cancel?

Yes, we will refund your full registration fee. To do so, email us at riskmanagement@ismie.com by October 25, 2021. There will be no refunds granted after the start of the event on October 26, 2021.
